WHAT IS THE 1K CHALLENGE?!

After the mission trip ended, we asked students to love and serve their communities back home… and we gave them $10,000 to do it! We split the money into 10 checks, gave it to 10 churches and gave the youth one big challenge: To make their mission more than a trip.To do the same thing back home they did on their YouthWorks trip.

And guess what… Teenagers from across the country served their neighbors, loved children, clothed the impoverished and supported those in need. And you can too!

HOW DO I APPLY?*

1. Think of a way to serve your community.
2. Invite some fellow students onboard.
3. Make a plan.
4. Fill out an application and return it by October 14, 2011.

MINISTRY INITIATIVES SHOULD BE…

  • Student-Led – You get to see adults drive projects all the time, but you’re not riding shotgun on this one. While you’ll want adult support, it’s your turn to take the wheel.
  • Well Planned – A good initiative takes good planning and organization. Think through all the aspects, including a breakdown of how you’ll wisely invest $1000 into your project.
  • Meaningful – You have the power to make an impact. Think about what meaningful ministry means in your community.
  • Relational – We want you to throw yourself into the mix. Dive into relationships and be hands-on in your service! Make your ministry about people in your community.
  • Lasting – Relationships are not one-time events. Think about how you can make your ministry last for the long haul.

YouthWorks Investment
YouthWorks will fund up to 10 awards of up to $1,000 toward the ministry project.

Share Your Story
Whether or not your application is selected for an award, YouthWorks wants to hear your story! If you do receive an award, you will be required to regularly report how the grant was used and the impact in your community.
